Day 1: Athens - Barcelona
Gathering at the airport and flight for the Catalan capital.
Our office’s guide will meet you at the airport so that we can begin right away our acquintance with the city, a tour that will take us everywhere in Barcelona making selected stops.
We will start with Plaza España, the premises of Expo 1929 to which the contemporary Catalans have given new purpose and use, and carry on uphill to Montjuïc to get to know that part of Barcelona that made the city a tourist destination worldwide: the Olympic Ring, the Estadi Olimpic, constructed in 1929, but renovated for the 1992 Olympics, the Palau Sant Jordi Barcelona’s indoor arena for the Olympics designed by the Japanese Arata Isozaki and we will stop at Mirador del Alcalde, a viewpoint with beautiful panoramic views of Barcelona’s ports. Free time for a coffee.
We will then head towards Barcelona’s sea front, going downhill Montjuïc passing through the tropical garden on the other side of the hill, we will drive along Passeig de Colon to the neighbourhood of Barceloneta, Barcelona’s old fishing village and nowadays full of fish taverns and beach bars, and we will continue to the Port Olimpic , the Olympic Port with Frank Gehry's sculpture, home to Barcelona’s nightlife.
Our next stop will be at one of Barcelona’s most famous hallmarks, the Sagrada Familia, Antonio Gaudí´s lifetime work. After a guided visit to the facades of Genesis and Pasión we will continue again by bus to Spain’s most expensive avenue, the Passeig de Gracia where we will see two buildings designed by Gaudi: Casa Milá and Casa Batlló. We will end up at plaça Catalunya where we will start a walking tour in the Gothic district of the city, to see the Cathedral, the Palau Major, the Palau del Lloctinent, the plaça San Felip Neri and talk about the Spanish civil war. Finally we will walk to plaça Sant Jaume to see the two buildings from where Catalonia is being ruled nowadays.
Early in the afternoon arrival and check in at the hotel.
Consult our tour guide for any questions about museums’ time schedules and other visits that might interest you.
Day 2: Barcelona (excursion Girona - Figueres)
Free day to visit and spend as much time as you like at monuments that impressed you during our tour yesterday.
Alternatively, we strongly suggest you make the most of the day taking an optional trip to Girona and Figueres. It would be a real shame to miss the opportunity to discover the Beauty of Salvador Dali’s Art with a guided visit at his museum with our specialized in surrealism guide.
We come back in the afternoon.
Day 3: Barcelona (optional tours)
Free day with two very interesting optional proposals. In consultation with the guide you can choose the one that interests you more.
1)Tour of Born, the medieval artisanal neighbourhood of Barcelona where the Virgin Mary's of the Sea church . the Santa Maria Del Mar is found, the Fossar de Les Moreres, the museum of the Mercat del Born, the Parc de La Ciutadella and the Arc de Triomf, and from there to the famous Ramblas, the Plaza Real , the Liceu opera house and finally to the one of the most famous food markets of the country, la Boquearía.
2) Guided tours of two of the most emblematic monuments of this city. The Hospital de Sant Pau, the world’s biggest and perhaps most beautiful modernist site, followed by a tour at Park Guell, the park designed by Gaudi, once to become the city garden of Barcelona.
Note: for any of the two options we need about 5 hours leaving the afternoon as free time for personal moments, visits like for example at Casa Milà, Casa Battlo, the Picasso museum, the Joan Miró Foundation, the Camp Nou stadium or just shopping. It is also absolutely essential that one evening you go to Plaza España to watch the spectacular show of water, sound and light at Barcelona’s Fonts Magiques.
Breakfast and time for a last walk ... our time was little but rarely one makes so much out if it as we did in these three days.
Transfer to airport and flight to Athens.
PS: You can ask our guide about restaurants for dinner so that you really get to know gourmet Barcelona as well.
